Federation Sahalandy
Welcome

Federation SAHALANDY, located in a tiny mountain town in Madagascar called Sandrandahy, is made up of 7 silk/cotton weaving co-operatives and associations. Women-driven, community-empowering, SAHALANDY has a unique management structure that fosters trusting relationships and provides income generating opportunities throughout the region. We are looking to spread the stories of these dedicated and talented women and encourage the continuation of the wonderful tradition of weaving that has been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years. Members have begun to devise a plan to send SAHALANDY creations around the world while encouraging sustainable ecotourism in their villages – not only will this boost their local economies, but it will deepen cross-cultural communication between visitors and local people. This is just the beginning! Check back in often to see our progress as we move forward into a global market, build a Traditional Betsileo House in Sandrandahy to showcase regional culture, and continue to produce beautiful and unique silk products – anything from scarves to hammocks! All of our products are hand-woven and all naturally dyed!
